And now for the tease you’ve all been waiting for… oh wait, that’s me. Guilty. I’ve been teasing myself. Feeding the Muse, so to speak. Actually, exactly that.
A couple weeks ago I dropped a hint about a new addition to this space, and now I’m back with more details…
So. Feed the Muse. What is it?
The easiest way for me to explain it is that it’s like the art class you wish you took in high school. And how do you explain the process of creating art, really? Maybe I’ll start by telling you what it’s not.
Feed the Muse is NOT a place with stringent rules, preconceived notions, life hacks, or any other such nonsense.
Feed the Muse IS an environment to explore in and through. It is an atmosphere to unravel, unwind, abstract, explore, reveal, and revel in the mystery. It is a place to create and a place to share unabashedly. It is a place to be too much, and then a little more. It is, above all, a place to be inspired. A place to give yourself more access to you. A place to get into the feeling of things.
How we’ll do that is simple. You show up. I’ll give you an idea to play with, expand upon, and make your own. I’ll have plenty of suggestions along the way. Maybe you make a photoshoot out of one thing. A collage out of another. A poem out of a third. Maybe you explore through dance. Maybe you’re inspired to write a song or an essay or a love letter. The point I’m trying to make here is this: I’ll provide some scaffolding, an edge to rub up against, a bit of friction to incite the Muse’s creative fire… and then, the rest is up to you. There’s no right or wrong here. Just like in that art class you wish you could’ve taken, there are no grades.
This is a spacious way to grow as an artist, and a human. A little constraint to make the wiggly abyss a bit less overwhelming. A point of focus… cause let’s face it, often finding a focus in the information saturated atmosphere is the most challenging part.
So that’s it, really. Show up, connect with the muse, make some cool stuff, learn about yourself in the process.

Feed the Muse with Music
Okay, now that’s through, in the spirit of the Muse, I thought I’d share some of the music that’s been feeding me lately. P.S. anyone else share music as a love language?
1. Fred Again.. Boiler Room Set.
Hit play and see if you can stop yourself from dancing. I mean really, it might change your life. Infectious, joyous, captivating energy. Let it in.
2. Sevdaliza - All Rivers at Once.
One of my go tos when I need to feel the feels that are hard to feel. Something about the droning sounds and the feel of her voice always takes me places I didn’t know I needed to go.
3. Sampha’s Tiny Desk Concert.
I can’t urge you to listen to this enough. Sampha’s emotions are so visceral both in his voice and his connection with the piano. Truly a gift to witness his magic in such a raw state.
4. Smino at the Pitchfork Music Festival.
I just love Smino. One of my all time favorite rappers. Even if you’re not typically a fan of the genre, I think there might be something here for you. Smino is a storyteller, and does things melodically that always surprise and delight… and, yes, make me wanna dance.
5. deadmau5 - Waking Up From the American Dream.
This is just a vibe. Groovy, melodic electronic that takes you on a 6 minute journey. Refreshing, uplifting, and inviting.
6. MF DOOM + Sade.
I dunno what to say. Just sit back and listen. It’s pretty cool.
Alright my dears. That’s it. Oh, and please feel free to flood my inbox with music recommendations.
xx Faye
